Why are there two Zoko charges on my Shopify invoice?

Because Zoko bills you in two parts: your monthly subscription, and your usage fees. Shopify lists each one on its own line.

Zoko bills you through Shopify

When you install Zoko from the Shopify App Store, Shopify collects Zoko's fees and adds them to the invoice it sends you each month. That's why you won't get a separate invoice from Zoko.

Page 1 of your Shopify invoice: the overview

The first page shows totals. Subscription is your Shopify plan, which is Shopify's own fee. Apps is the total for every app installed on your store. Zoko is one of these apps, so both Zoko charges are included in the Apps total.

An example Shopify invoice, page 1. The Apps row is circled in orange and labelled Zoko is in here. The Subscription row is circled in black and labelled Your Shopify plan.
Zoko's charges are inside the Apps total.

Page 2: the breakdown by app

The second page breaks the Apps total down, app by app. Here you'll find two lines named Zoko - WhatsApp Marketing API.

Page 2 of the example Shopify invoice. Under Apps, two lines called Zoko - WhatsApp Marketing API are circled: one for $79.99 and one for $4.19.
The two Zoko line items.

The first line: your monthly subscription

This is the fixed fee for your plan. Underneath, Shopify shows your plan name and the dates the fee covers, for example Plus: 2026-07-21 - 2026-08-20. The amount matches the price of your plan, shown above in the plans section.

Split screen. On the left, the Plus plan card with its $79.99 price circled. On the right, the Shopify invoice line for $79.99 circled and joined to the price by a straight line.
The subscription line matches the price on your plan card.

The second line: your usage fees

This line is labelled Usage fee. It covers conversations, calling, agents, Instagram, and any optional add-ons you choose, such as Zoko Flows and Zoko AI. The amount changes each month with your usage.

The usage section of the Plus plan card circled and joined by a line to the Shopify invoice line for $4.19, labelled Usage fees.
The usage line covers everything in the usage section of your plan.

What you won't see on your Shopify invoice

Your WhatsApp API charges. You pay those directly to WhatsApp, and WhatsApp invoices you for them. See finding your Meta invoices.

The WhatsApp rate card line on the plan card circled in black, with a note: not on your Shopify bill, paid directly to WhatsApp.
WhatsApp's own charges are never on your Shopify invoice.

Why doesn't the amount shown on Zoko's billing page match the amount on the Shopify invoice?

The short answer is timing. Zoko's billing page groups charges by calendar month. Shopify groups them into 30-day invoices. The charges are the same, they are just grouped differently.

Zoko's billing page works in calendar months

WhatsApp bills by calendar month, and your plan's monthly allowances reset on the 1st. So Zoko does the same. On Zoko's billing page, the amount shown for a month is that month's subscription plus that month's usage.

Meta charges are also listed on Zoko's billing page, but you pay those directly to WhatsApp, so they are never part of the Shopify invoice.

An example of Zoko's billing page for June 2026. The month selector is labelled One calendar month, the total of $85.98 is labelled Amount shown for June, and the Meta charges section is noted as paid to WhatsApp and never part of the Shopify invoice.
The amount shown for June covers June's subscription and June's usage.

The Shopify invoice works in 30-day cycles

Shopify invoices you every 30 days, counting from the day your Shopify subscription started. In this example, that's the 15th of the month.

Two timelines. The orange Zoko timeline is split into calendar months, June and July. The green Shopify timeline is split into 30-day cycles, with invoices on 15 June and 15 July.
Zoko's months (orange) and Shopify's invoices (green) don't line up.

When each charge is sent to Shopify

Zoko sends your subscription for a month on the 1st of that month. Your usage can only be added up once the month is over, so it's sent in the first week of the following month. With a Shopify invoice date of the 15th, June's charges land on two different Shopify invoices.

The June subscription travels from 1 June on the Zoko timeline to the Shopify invoice of 15 June. June usage travels from early July to the Shopify invoice of 15 July.
June's subscription and June's usage are invoiced a month apart.

What that means for your Shopify invoice

Each Shopify invoice shows one month's subscription plus the previous month's usage. Nothing is missing, and nothing is charged twice.

Example with a Shopify invoice date of the 15th
Shopify invoiceSubscriptionUsage
15 JuneJuneMay
15 JulyJulyJune
Summary view. The Shopify invoice of 15 June holds the June subscription and May usage. The Shopify invoice of 15 July holds the July subscription and June usage. Caption: each Shopify invoice equals one month's subscription plus the previous month's usage.
Each Shopify invoice = one month's subscription + the previous month's usage.

To match a month on Zoko's billing page, look for its subscription on the first Shopify invoice after the 1st of that month, and its usage on the Shopify invoice after that.

Finding your Shopify invoices

Zoko's subscription and usage fees are charged on your Shopify invoice. You can view and download every Shopify invoice from the Billing page in your Shopify admin.

  1. Open Billing in your Shopify admin

Go to admin.shopify.com/settings/billing. Or, in your Shopify admin, go to Settings and click Billing.

The Billing page in Shopify settings. The Current billing cycle panel, showing 9 Sept 2026 to 9 Oct 2026, is circled, and so is the Past bills heading above a list of bills.
Current billing cycle shows the dates of the cycle in progress. Past bills lists every invoice so far.
  2. Find the invoice you need

Under Past bills, each row is one Shopify invoice, with the date it was issued, its bill number, its payment status and the amount. Use the tabs to show only paid, open or failed bills, or use the search and sort buttons to find a specific one.

  3. Open it and download it

Click the invoice to open it, then click Download. Shopify gives you a PDF you can keep for your records or share with your accountant.

The Past bills list with the most recent bill, issued 9 Sept 2026, circled.
Click a bill in the list to open it.

Reading your Shopify invoice

The PDF has two parts. The first page is an overview of your charges. Zoko is one of your apps, so Zoko's charges are included in the Apps total.

Page 1 of an example Shopify invoice, with the Apps row, $94.08 USD, circled.
Page 1: Zoko's charges are inside the Apps total. Example invoice.

The second page breaks the Apps total down by app. Zoko appears twice, as Zoko - WhatsApp Marketing API: once for your monthly subscription, which shows your plan name and the dates it covers, and once for your usage fees.

Page 2 of an example Shopify invoice. Under Apps, two Zoko - WhatsApp Marketing API lines are circled: $79.99 for the Plus plan with dates 2026-07-21 to 2026-08-20, and $4.19 labelled 1 Usage fee.
Page 2: the two Zoko line items. Example invoice.

For more on what each line means, see why there are two Zoko charges on your Shopify invoice.

The Date issued column tells you when each Shopify invoice was created. Because Shopify invoices every 30 days, this date moves a little earlier each month: in the example above, 11 Jul, 10 Aug, then 9 Sept. You'll need these dates to match your Shopify invoice to Zoko's billing page.

Finding your Meta invoices

Meta charges are your WhatsApp API charges. You pay them directly to Meta, so their invoices are in Meta Business Suite, not on your Shopify invoice or in Zoko.

  1. Open Meta's billing settings

Go to Billing and payments in Meta Business Suite. Or, in Business Manager settings, click WhatsApp accounts in the left-hand menu, choose your WhatsApp account and select Payment settings. This opens a new tab.

Meta Business Suite settings. WhatsApp accounts is selected in the left menu, a WhatsApp account is selected in the list, and the Payment settings button is highlighted.
  2. Go to Payment activity

Click Payment activity in the left-hand menu.

Meta Billing and payments, with Payment activity highlighted in the left menu and a list of WhatsApp Business account transactions on the right.
  3. Find the period you need

Type a transaction ID in the search field if you have it. Or use the date filter to choose the date range for your WhatsApp charges.

The Payment activity page with the transaction ID search field and the date range picker highlighted.
  4. Download the invoice

Click the download icon next to a transaction. You'll get a PDF invoice with all the details.

A transaction row in Payment activity with an arrow pointing to the download icon in the Action column.
